AN ACT OF LOVE DONATION TO SOCIETY

China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd. ("CMES SHIPPING" or the "Company") has faithfully performed its corporate social responsibilities. Through the China Merchants Charity Foundation, CMES has conducted a variety of charitable and public-benefit activities, such as donations to students and poverty relief. The Company has returned to society by practical action and made donations through the above foundation every year since 2009. Its donations cumulatively amounted to RMB64.44 million by the end of 2022. In recent years, it has constructed two Hope Primary Schools in poverty-stricken areas in Weining County, Guizhou Province. In order to appreciate CMES' magnanimous act, the Education Bureau of Weining County named the two schools the CMES Bangmu Village Hope Primary School and the CMES Shaokou Village Hope Primary School.

SUPPORT TO MARITIME EDUCATION

Moreover, the Company has recently, through the China Merchants Charity Foundation, set up the "CMES Scholarship" at six maritime institutions, namely Dalian Maritime University (DMU), Shanghai Maritime University (SMU), Jimei University (JMU), Jiangsu Maritime Institute (JMI), Wuhan University of Technology (WUT), and Guangzhou Maritime University (GMU). The "Student Grant of China Merchants Group" was established at Wuhan University of Technology (WUT), Jiangsu Shipping College, and Guangdong Province Guangyuan Vocational School. RMB2 million is donated to more than 600 students every year to help them achieve shipping dreams and contribute to the cultivation of shipping talent in China.

The "Hailiao Fund" is a special foundation for social practices that is established by CMES through the China Merchants Charity Foundation and designated to encourage students from maritime institutions to develop holistically and vigorously engage in the country's shipping course. CMES has aided financially students from maritime institutions in their social practices and public-benefit activities and carried forward the patriotic, hardworking, and pioneering "Hailiao spirit" to further cultivate excellent shipping talent with the senses of gratitude and responsibility.

As a partner and supporter, CMES has actively participated in the Hong Kong Maritime Week. It won the title, "Enterprise with Special Contribution to the Shipping Industry" of the China Zheng He Sailing Awards for 2022. Hong Kong Ming Wah Shipping Co., Ltd. (HKMW), under CMES, was granted the title, "Most Popular Ship Management Company for 2021". Chang Da Long of China Merchants RoRo (CMRORO), under CMES, was named to the "Top 10 Ships for 2021". Meanwhile, CMES won the Award of Innovation in Sustainable Development of the "Evergreen Awards" at the 2022 Caijing Sustainable Development Summit. For the China Zheng He Sailing Awards for 2021, CMES won the title, "Enterprise with Special Contribution to the Shipping Industry"; its "Digital Innovation" team was granted the title, "Innovation Exploration Pioneer"; New Vision was named to the "Top 10 Ships".

Additionally, CMES' honors also included the "Top 100 Popular Chinese in Shipping Industry for 2019", the "Most Influential Person in the China Shipping Industry", and the "Top Ten Influential Maritime Pioneers". BIMCO, the world's largest international shipping association, granted the Company the title, "Best Shipping Company of Greater China Area 2019". CMES also registered the highest tonnage with the Hong Kong Shipping Register in 2018. Furthermore, in 2019, Captain Huang Xianyuan was granted the honor "Excellent Party Member of State-owned Enterprise" by the Party Committee of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC). Captain Liao Huayi was awarded the title "Model Worker of State-owned Enterprise" jointly by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China and the SASAC. Captain Zhong Wenxin won the title "Top 10 Seafarers of the Third China Zheng He Sailing Awards", and was jointly regarded as the "Most Beautiful Seafarer" by the Maritime Safety Administration of the People's Republic of China, the Chinese Seamen & Construction Workers' Union, and China Transport News and "China Merchants Model" by China Merchants Group (CMG).

Maritime rescue:  CMES has carried forward humanitarianism and passed love bravely and selflessly on the blue sea.

CMES' Pacific Prospect delivered container homes for earthquake victims from Qatar on March 15, 2023.

CMES' VLCC New Solution rescued a fishing boat off the coast of Panama. All 4 Panamanian crew members were rescued on March 5, 2023.

Great Triumph saved two persons in water in Morocco, Africa, on July 18, 2022.

Pacific Activity provided fuel oil to a German sailboat in danger in the North Atlantic Ocean on December 7, 2021.

Changhang Honghai participated in the rescue of a helicopter that crashed into the ocean on September 30 in Lianyungang on December 13, 2021.

Pacific Spirit saved a German seafarer from a wrecked sailboat in the Indian Ocean on September 25, 2016. The Transport and Housing Bureau (which has been split into the Transport and Logistics Bureau and the Housing Bureau) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Marine Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), and the Hong Kong Shipowners Association jointly granted it the "Bravery Award".
