NEW ADEN Completes the First Crude Oil Delivery and Transportation Operation with NS PIONEER

10 December 2023, local time in Brazil - CMES's NEW ADEN and CNOOC International Trading's NS PIONEER, a self-built dynamic positioning shuttle tanker ("DPST"), successfully completed ship-to-ship lightering and loading operations at the Port of Acu in Brazil and safely departed.

Both tankers represent the pinnacle of China's independently built ships in their respective specialized fields. Their successful rendezvous and completion of the first crude oil delivery and transportation operation in Brazil not only mark a significant milestone in CMES's journey towards green and low-carbon transformation but also symbolize CMES's elevated operational capabilities in "meticulously cultivating the Latin American market" under the guidance of its group strategy. Meanwhile, this collaboration signifies a renewed partnership between CMES and CNOOC International Trading, opening a new chapter in integrated cooperation for overseas crude oil sales, trading and shipping.

--NEW ADEN--

NEW ADEN is a new generation of energy-efficient and environment-friendly super-sized crude oil carrier in response to the global shipping industry's green and low-carbon development trend. It is built by DSIC as engaged by CMES. Equipped with the second-generation sail system, the tanker was delivered in September 2022, making it the world's first very large crude carrier ("VLCC") with double-flap wingsails. On board, there are two pairs of state-of-the-art large rigid wingsails, with a height of nearly 40 meters after being hoisted. The total surface area of a single wingsail reaches 1,200 square meters. NEW ADEN, compared with models of the previous generation, has optimized the operation performance and improved the operation and control of the wingsail system, so as to cut the consumption of fuel oil and enhance the navigation performance amid winds and waves. With world-class comprehensive performance indicators, NEW ADEN serves as an exemplar of the new generation of energy-saving and consumption-reducing vessel designs.

--NS PIONEER--

NS PIONEER is the world's largest DPST, which is self-invested, built and operated by Chinese enterprises. It was built by CSSC Dalian Shipbuilding Industry as engaged by CNOOC. The tanker is specifically designed to navigate the challenging environmental conditions in Brazil's deepwater areas, including unpredictable weather and rough seas. NS PIONEER can successfully ensure the efficient transportation of CNOOC's share of oil in Brazilian projects, significantly improving the cost-efficiency of overseas oil transportation.
